Huge progress on the wheelchair access app

Ignyte avatarOn the 7th of May we all met in the Mill for the first viewing of the Wheelchair Access App. There are a total of 90 Drogheda Destinations now listed as Wheelchair accessible. These covered 10 Categories. It was decided to add ‘Parking’ & ‘Toilets’ as additional Categories in their own right. Everyone was delighted with the results – especially the wheelchair users present.

Efforts are now being made to engage with the Irish Wheelchair Association in Dublin in order to have the App rolled out nationally. Everyone was asked to reserve Thursday 28th May (3:30-8pm) for a trip to Dublin for the final Event of the YSI project. Maria Mc Cabe told the group how on a recent visit to Dail Eireann, organised by Labour Senator Mary Meehan, she had told several TDs about the App.

All wanted to know when would it be available in their Constituency area. It was agreed by all participants that great learning benefits had accrued from a very worthwhile project.
