Louth based businesses and people with new ideas are being targeted by a €2.56 Million cross-border economic growth initiative, VITAL.
VITAL Project Managers will be visiting Drogheda on Monday March 24th as part of its mission to identify interested businesses and serial entrepreneurs and to identify individuals with new and innovative ideas.
Kieran Fegan, Director of VITAL, which is funded by INTERREG IVA Programme, based in the Dundalk Institute of Technology says the team are continuing with its winter tour of workshops within the cross border region. “VITAL is identifying and evaluating a pool of ideas and presenting these to seasoned entrepreneurs and experienced managers who have the skills and knowledge to bring those ideas onto a commercial platform through their existing businesses or through new business start-ups.”

Well done to all the Drogheda students who entered the Drogheda Young Innovators Competition. We got a great response and some excellent innovative ideas. We are holding a workshop for all students who entered and any students interested in innovation on Saturday 25 January here at The Mill.
We will be announcing a shortlist of entrants and providing details on the next steps; the judging criteria and – most importantly the prizes!
We will also have a number of guest speakers, including:
Shane Curran – Runner up in this year’s Young Scientist Exhibition and winner of 2013 Junior Dragon’s Den.
Laura Armada Buch – Local entrepreneur who set up LAB fitness and who will reveal all her secrets of success.

Innovation Vouchers are a great way to kick start your R&D project by providing 5,000 euro or more in research from Ireland’s 3rd level universities.
What Are Innovation Vouchers?
The Innovation Voucher initiative was developed to build links between Ireland’s public knowledge providers (i.e. higher education institutes, public research bodies) and small businesses. Innovation Vouchers worth €5,000 are available to assist a company or companies to explore a business opportunity or problem with a registered knowledge provider.
If you wish to apply for an Innovation Voucher, there are two options:
Standard Applications – open for applications on a semi-competitive call basis (see below).
50-50 co-funded Fast Track Applications – may be submitted anytime.
